The China Anti-Cult Association is an organization established in the name of experts and scholars to support the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. The China Anti-Cult Association and the provincial and municipal anti-cult associations are under the leadership of the Central and Provincial and Municipal 610 Offices, respectively.[2] In some areas, the secretary of the local CCP political and legal affairs commission directly serves as the head of the anti-cult association.[3] The Central 610 Office supports the China Anti-Cult Network which is sponsored by the China Anti-Cult Association.[4] The provincial 610 Offices have helped the China Anti-Cult Network solicit articles and organize activities. The Zhejiang Provincial 610 Office and the provincial Anti-Cult Association jointly have issued the internal CCP guidelines.[5]

Wang Yusheng represents the Chinese authorities in the anti-Falun Gong campaign in science and technology communities. He not only initiated and established the China Anti-Cult Association with the mission to persecute Falun Gong, but also often attended lectures, published articles, and appeared in various conferences as so-called expert and scholar, where he would make untrue and disparaging remarks again Falun Gong, creating lies, inciting hate, providing a theoretical basis and political endorsement for the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. The following are the main crimes of Wang Yusheng’s persecution of Falun Gong:

 

  1. Wang Yusheng launched the “China Anti-Cult Association” designed to persecute Falun Gong.

On November 13, 2000, Wang Yusheng, as the main sponsor, advocated the establishment of the so-called “China Anti-Cult Association” against Falun Gong.[6] He was the vice-chairman and secretary-general of the association until 2014. At the same time, he became the vice-chairman, secretary-general, and legal representative of another organization, the China Care Association, in order to cover up the true face of the China Anti-cult Association.[7],[8] As secretary-general, Wang Yusheng presides over the daily work of the China Anti-Cult Association (and China Care Association) and takes full responsibility for all the work of the Association.

 

  1. Wang Yusheng actively promoted the establishment of local anti-cult associations throughout China and participated in the activities of anti-cult associations.

Wang Yusheng, as the vice-chairman of the China Anti-Cult Association, also went to other provinces and universities to attend and speak at the inaugural meetings of the local anti-cult associations, and expressed his support for the establishment of these location anti-cult associations.  

On March 1, 2001, he participated in and made a speech at the Tsinghua University Students Anti-Cult Association.[9]

On May 15, 2001, the Sichuan Anti-Cult Association was established. Wang Yusheng attended the meeting and gave a special report making untrue statements against Falun Gong.[10]

On May 16, 2001, Wang Yusheng attended the inaugural meeting of the Tianjin Anti-Cult Association and gave a special speech on anti-Falun Gong.

On August 25, 2003, Wang Yusheng went to Guiyang to participate in the “Guizhou Anti-Cult Association” inaugural meeting and delivered an anti-Falun Gong speech.[11]

On June 30, 2004, Wang Yusheng went to Urumqi and participated in the Xinjiang Provincial Anti-Cult Association's inaugural meeting and gave a featured speech on anti-Falun Gong.[12]

On September 6, 2004, the Anti-Cult Association was established at Puyang City, Henan Province and Wang Yusheng was present to give a special speech on Falun Gong.[13]

On November 19, 2008, Wang Yusheng went to Nanjing to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Jiangsu Anti-Cult Association and made a speech against Falun Gong.[14]

As the result of the promotion efforts of Wang Yusheng and others, 24 local Anti-Cult Associations were established in various provinces and cities by the end of October 2003.[15]

In addition, Wang Yusheng often participated in the activities of local Anti-Cult Associations to show his support.

From June 5 to 6, 2007, Wang Yusheng attended the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Shandong Anti-Cult Association in Jining and made a featured speech against Falun Gong.[16]

On June 8, 2010, Wang Yusheng participated in the second conference of the Hunan Anti-Cult Association in Changsha.[17]

From July 22 to 26, 2011, Wang Yusheng participated in the Western Region Anti-Cult Forum held in Xining City, Qinghai Province. [18]

On July 3, 2014, Wang Yusheng attended the ceremony launching the first non-cult community held in Jiulongqiao Community, Jiuxiang Town, Hanyuan County, Sichuan Province. [19]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng actively participated and promoted various propaganda activities to demonize Falun Gong.

Wang Yusheng actively participated and promoted various propaganda activities to demonize Falun Gong. On October 28, 2003, at the National Anti-Cult Association Work Experience Exchange Conference held in Tianjin, Wang Yusheng briefed the attendants that from the establishment of the China Anti-Cult Association in November 2000 to October 2003, a total of 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China established local anti-cult associations. National and local anti-cult associations have organized close to 1,000 of so-called “anti-cult” exhibitions and propaganda activities against Falun Gong with nearly 100 million participants; held more than 1,000 conference, lectures, and symposia to demonize Falun Gong, with over 50,000 participants; established the China Anti-Cult Association website, with 5 million clicks on the website; organized and edited more than 20 film and television works, and; edited and published 400,000 volumes of publications.11

 

  1. Wang Yusheng initiated and led the “Million Signatures” campaign against Falun Gong in the science and technology communities, and later expanded the campaign throughout China.

Headed by Wang Yusheng and others, some members of the China Anti-Cult Association, launched a “Million Signatures” campaign in December 2000 to “oppose cults and protect human rights.” On January 16, 2001, at the 2001 Chinese New Year Tea Party of the Chinese Academy of Sciences held at the Beijing Friendship Hotel, Wang Yusheng, together with others, held the kickoff of the campaign on behalf of the China Anti-Cult Association. Wang mobilized nearly 300 Chinese Academy of Science fellows to sign on the spot. Thus, Wang took the lead in launching signature activities in the scientific and technological field. [20] Seven days later, the CCP orchestrated the “Tiananmen Self-immolation” incident and the State media launched large-scale propaganda against Falun Gong. With this background, the “Million Signatures” campaign spread across the country. In just over 40 days, the China Anti-Cult Association enrolled 1.5 million people who did not know the truth in all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities to sign and express their support of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. [21]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng attended and presided over academic symposiums and seminars organized by the China Anti-Cult Association demonizing Falun Gong.

From November 2000 when the China Anti-Cult Association was established to July 2006, the China Anti-Cult Association organized 11 symposiums on Falun Gong. Wang Yusheng attended at least 6 of them and delivered keynote speeches against Falun Gong.

On February 28, 2001, at the second symposium of the China Anti-Cult Association in Beijing, Wang Yusheng briefed the participants on the progress of the “Million Signatures” campaign. [22]

On April 25, 2002, Wang Yusheng made a keynote speech at the opening meeting of the fifth symposium held in Xiamen.[23]

On June 26-28, 2002, Wang Yusheng also spoke at the sixth symposium of the China Anti-Cult Association in Zhengzhou.[24]

On April 11-12, 2003, Wang Yusheng made a speech at the eighth symposium of the China Anti-Cult Association and in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.[25]

On September 18-19, 2004, Wang Yusheng delivered a concluding speech at the tenth symposium of the China Anti-Cult Association and in Wuhan, Hubei Province.[26]

On July 21-23, 2006, Wang Yusheng presided over and delivered a concluding speech at the eleventh symposium of the China Anti-Cult Association in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia.[27]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng attended and delivered speeches to demonizing Falun Gong at the annual conferences of the China Anti-Cult Association.

From its inception in November 2000 to November 2011, the China Anti-Cult Association held 11 annual conferences. The central theme of all these annual conferences has been demonizing Falun Gong. Wang Yusheng attended at least seven annual conferences. As secretary-general and deputy director of the China Anti-Cult Association, he presided over several annual conferences and delivered keynote speeches against Falun Gong.

From December 13 to 15, 2003, Wang Yusheng attended and presided over the 2003 Annual Meeting of the China Anti-Cult Association in Chongqing.[28]

From December 17 to 19, 2004, Wang Yusheng attended the 2004 Annual Meeting in Changchun.[29]

From September 21 to 23, 2006, at the 2006 Annual Meeting held in Urumqi, Xinjiang, Wang Yusheng delivered a closing speech.[30]

From December 8 to 9, 2008, Wang Yusheng attended the 2008 Annual Conference in Guangzhou and delivered a concluding speech.[31]

From October 14th to 15th, 2009, Wang Yusheng attended and delivered a speech at the 2009 Annual Conference held in Dalian, Liaoning Province.[32]

From November 13th to 14th, 2010, Wang Yusheng attended the “10th Anniversary Conference of the China Anti-Cult Association and the China Care Association” held at the Beijing Friendship Hotel. He presided over the opening ceremony, and gave a featured speech on the work of the association.[33]

From November 8th to 10th, 2011, Wang Yusheng attended and presided over the opening ceremony at the 2011 annual conference held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province.[34],[35]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng organized and participated in the annual joint conferences of secretary- generals of local anti-cult associations.

In order to implement the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong, since 2004 the China Anti-Cult Association has organized the annual “National Joint Conference of Secretary-Generals of the Anti-Cult Association” every year. The major agenda of these joint conferences is to share experiences on how regions have persecuted Falun Gong, to implement the tasks assigned by the central 610 Office and to convey the spirit of the relevant CCP documents. Wang Yusheng attended the joint conferences at least 6 times as Secretary-General of the China Anti-Cult Association, and chaired the conferences or made closing remarks numerous times.

In mid-February 2004, Wang Yusheng hosted the first joint conference of secretary-generals of the National Anti-Cult Association in Beijing and delivered a concluding speech.[36]

From August 2 to 4, 2005, Wang Yusheng attended the second joint conference in Xining, Qinghai Province, and delivered a concluding speech.[37]

From March 20th to 22nd, 2006, Wang Yusheng participated in the third joint conference held in Shanghai.[38]

At the sixth joint conference held in Haikou City on March 12-13, 2009, Wang Yusheng chaired the opening ceremony.[39]

On April 22, 2010, Wang Yusheng attended the seventh joint conference held in Shanghai.[40]

From March 14 to 15, 2011, at the eighth joint conference held in Yibin, Sichuan Province, Wang Yusheng conveyed the spirit of the relevant CCP central committee meetings as well as CCP leaders’ instructions on the so-called “anti-cult” work of the year.[41]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng organized and held work experience exchange meetings on the persecution of Falun Gong.

Wang Yusheng and others often held so-called “Working Experience Exchange Meetings of Anti-Cult Associations” against Falun Gong in the name of China Anti-Cult Associations. He also frequently attended and spoke at the meetings.

From October 28 to 29, 2003, the China Anti-Cult Association hosted and the Tianjin Anti-Cult Association undertook the National Anti-Cult Association Work Experience Exchange Conference in Tianjin. Wang Yusheng presided over the opening ceremony and delivered the concluding speech.[42]

From August 10 to12, 2007, the China Anti-Cult Association hosted and the Liaoning Anti-Cult Association undertook the National Anti-cult Associations’ Participation in Educational Transformation Work Experience Sharing Conference” in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Wang Yusheng attended and delivered the concluding speech.[43],[44]

From September 2nd to 4th, 2009, the China Anti-Cult Association hosted and Hubei Anti-Cult Association undertook the “National Anti-cult Association Educational Transformation Seminar” in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Wang Yusheng presided over the opening ceremony.[45]

On June 10, 2014, the China Anti-Cult Association organized the so-called “Return to Society Seminar” for Falun Gong practitioners in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The theme of the conference was actually to promote the brainwashing experience of the Nanjing “Love Home” brainwashing class. Wang Yusheng attended and presided the meeting.[46]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng held and participated in lectures and symposiums designed to criticize Falun Gong.

Wang Yusheng often organized lectures and participated in symposiums and academic seminars so that he could travel to various places to disseminate and deliver lectures that defamed Falun Gong. These lectures either directly or indirectly attacked Falun Gong.

On the morning of October 2001, Wang Yusheng delivered a ten-thousand-word report entitled “Advocating Science Against Cults” to discredit Falun Gong at a science education event held in Xingtai City, Hebei Province.[47]

In September 2002, Wang Yusheng delivered a speech on science education in Wuhan City to attack Falun Gong.[48]

On May 22, 2003, the CCP organized a group of academic and religious figures and held a symposium to counter the criticism against the CCP in the 2003 Annual Report on Human Rights and Religious Freedom released by the United States. Wang Yusheng attended the symposium and made a speech against Falun Gong.[49]

On the morning of August 28, 2004, Wang Yusheng made a special anti-Falun Gong report entitled “Advocating Science Against Cults” at the CCP School of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee.[50]

On the evening of September 18, 2004, Wang Yusheng delivered a special science report to more than 300 teachers and students at Huazhong University of Science and Technology where he maliciously made untrue statements in his attack against Falun Gong.[51]

On June 26, 2006, Wang Yusheng made a speech at the academic seminar entitled “Pride in Advocating Science and Shame on Stupidity and Ignorance” held in Beijing. Wang’s speech contained slanderous remarks against Falun Gong.[52]

On November 11, 2007, Wang Yusheng went to Shaanxi University of Science and Technology to give a report where he defiled that Falun Gong spreads feudal superstition and pseudoscience.[53]

On July 28, 2009, Wang Yusheng made a special anti-Falun Gong report entitled “Advocating Science and Resisting Cults” in the Hubei Provincial Government.[54]

On October 28, 2009, Wang Yusheng attended the “Advocating Science Against Cults” conference held in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, and made a special report.[55]

On the morning of June 22, 2011, at the invitation of the “610 Office” of the Gansu Provincial CCP Committee, Wang Yusheng gave a special report entitled “Promote the Scientific Spirit and Prevent Cults” at the Northwest Normal University[56]

On the afternoon of June 22, 2011, Wang Yusheng gave a special report entitled “Advocating Science and Rejecting Cult” at the Gansu University of Political Science and Law[57]

On June 12, 2014, Wang Yusheng made a presentation entitled “Science, Religion and Cult” at the Science and Technology Museum of Henan Province.[58] 

On June 17, 2014, Wang Yusheng gave an “anti-cult” report in Nanle County, Henan Province.[59] In addition, he participated in various anti-Falun Gong conferences and activities in Beijing,[60],[61] Chongqing,[62],[63] Zhengzhou, Henan Province,[64] and Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province,[65] where he delivered defamatory speeches.

 

  1. Wang Yusheng disseminated his defamatory statements against Falun Gong through media interviews.

In the early days of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, Wang Yusheng was interviewed by the CCP’s China Central Television several times, where he wasted no time in attacking Falun Gong. In addition, Wang Yusheng frequently accepted interviews or exclusive interviews with various media, constantly making slanderous remarks, creating lies, inciting hate, and building momentum for the CCP's suppression of Falun Gong.

On February 12, 2001, Wang Yusheng was interviewed by People ’s Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China.  In the interview, he described the CCP’s suppression of Falun Gong as part of the world’s anti-cult struggle.[66]

On July 29, 2001, Wang Yusheng was interviewed by China Youth Daily, compared Falun Gong to cults, and made belligerent remarks about Falun Gong.[67]

In October 2001, Wang Yusheng accepted an exclusive interview with the monthly journal Society, and spoke to discredit Falun Gong.[68]

In July 2008, Wang Yusheng slandered Falun Gong as superstition and pseudoscience in an interview with Science World magazine in July 2008.[69]

On August 21, 2014, Wang Yusheng once again placed Falun Gong alongside cults in an exclusive interview with Sina.com.[70],[71]

Wang Yusheng also repeatedly had interviews with Kaifeng.com, an official CCP website against Falun Gong, and in particular, made slanderous statements against Falun Gong.[72],[73],[74],[75]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng wrote and published articles attacking Falun Gong in CCP mouthpiece media and theoretical journals.

On May 10, 2000, Wang Yusheng authored a 6,000-word article entitled “Falun Gong is not science, but an authentic superstition” which made untrue statements to smear Falun Gong.  This article was published in full text by the Xinhua News Agency, the mouthpiece media.[76]

On January 1, 2004, Wang Yusheng published an article entitled “Stand Firm on Atheism and Oppose Pseudoscience” in the 2004 issue of Qiushi, the official journal of the CCP Central Committee.  Wang made libelous remarks attacking Falun Gong and called Falun Gong a cult and pseudoscience.[77]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng compiled and published articles and monographs to attack Falun Gong.

In December 2004, “The internet and Anti-Cult”, a compilation of articles from the Tenth Anti-Falun Gong Association's Tenth Report Conference and Academic Symposium, was published.  It was edited by Wang Yusheng.[78] In 2010, “Falun Gong's Perspective on Mind Control” also edited by Wang Yusheng was published by Science Popularization Publishing House (ISBN: 978-7-110-07245-5).[79] Wang Yusheng also serves as the director of the Editorial Committee of the Anti-Cult Forum, which was launched in March 2011.[80]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng directly participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at forced labor camps.

Wang Yusheng went to the First Women's Labor Camp in Shandong Province and personally participated in the persecution. His speech against Falun Gong in the forced labor camp was made into a video that was widely broadcast in forced labor camps and brainwashing classes across the country, and became part of the course materials used in the brainwashing classes during the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.[81], [82]

 

  1. Wang Yusheng Incited hate of Falun Gong and export persecution to overseas.

On July 15, 2001, in an interview with Guangming Daily, Wang Yusheng claimed that in fighting against Falun Gong, China must “initiate attacks” and let the world know “how the Chinese people hate it”, advocating exporting hate to the world. [83]

Wang Yusheng led the China Anti-Cult Association delegations to Geneva to attend the U.N. Human Rights Conference for four consecutive years.

In 2001, Wang Yusheng led a delegation to Geneva. He spoke the “Oppose Cults and Protect Human Rights” meeting held by the Chinese delegation[84]; and presented the “Million Signatures” scroll to the U. N. High Commissioner for Human Rights in an attempt to deceive international communities.[85],[86] He also went to the Chinese Embassy in France to hold a special meeting entitled “Anti-Cult Guaranteeing Human Rights” for Chinese students studying in France.[87]

On the evening of March 20, 2002, Wang Yusheng repeated slanderous statements about Falun Gong at a special meeting held by Chinese delegation on “Oppose Cults and Advocate Science” for overseas Chinese and students in Switzerland.[88] He also held a press conference to inculcate lies and hate to journalists from various countries,[89] and also displayed anti-Falun Gong letters from official Chinese organizations. [90]

In 2003, the China Anti-Cult Association participated in the U.N. Human Rights Conference in the name of the China Care Association. Wang Yusheng held an anti-Falun Gong meeting in the Geneva local Chinese communities to incite hate.[91],[92] He sent a letter to the Office of the U. N. High Commissioner for Human Rights to brag about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners through brainwashing. [93]  He also held a press conference to disseminate CCP’s anti-Falun Gong propaganda. [94] Anti-Falun Gong display boards, books, and video materials were displayed outside the U.N. entrance.

In April 2004, Wang Yusheng led a delegation to participate in the 60th U.N. Human Rights Conference in the name of the China Anti-Cult Association, and made a speech smearing and attacking Falun Gong at the conference. [95]

 

Conclusion

For more than 20 years since the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution against Falun Gong, Wang Yusheng has been a key publicist for the CCP and the Jiang Zemin Group. His primary responsibility has been to instigate hate against Falun Gong at home and abroad, and to cover up the CCP persecution. He is the propaganda principal as well as an important accomplice to the CCP and the Jiang Zemin Group. He will be held accountable for the crimes he has committed against Falun Gong.
