Wang Xuan
Summary: Wang Xuan, male, is the Director of the Tumor Surgery Department of the Qinhuai Medical District of General Hospital of the PLA Eastern Theater Command(Formerly the PLA’s No. 81 Hospital)and Director of the Liver Transplant Center at Nanjing Military Region Liver Transplant Center and a Chief Surgeon. In July 2003, the Liver Transplant Center was established at the PLA’s No. 81 Hospital. By the end of 2010, over 250 allogeneic liver transplants, 1 liver-kidney combined transplant, 15 emergency liver transplants, and 5 living-donor liver transplants had been performed. The Liver Transplant Center has rapidly developed, with the capability to conduct 2 liver transplants simultaneously, making it a major liver transplant base in East China. In 2015, the number of transplants conducted in nearly 2 years accounted for over 50% of the total in Jiangsu Province.
In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since Qinhuai Medical District of General Hospital of the PLA Eastern Theater Command(Formerly the PLA’s No. 81 Hospital)has been allegedly involved in the crime, Wang Xuan, the director of the hospital's Liver Transplant Center, is a major suspect.
Wang Xuan, male, is the Director of the Tumor Surgery Department of the Qinhuai Medical District of General Hospital of the PLA Eastern Theater Command(Formerly the PLA’s No. 81 Hospital)and Director of the Liver Transplant Center at Nanjing Military Region Liver Transplant Center and a Chief Surgeon. He also serves as a member of the Transplant Immunology Branch of the Chinese Society of Immunology; a member of the Organ Transplantation Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association; a member of the Organ Transplantation Professional Committee of the PLA; a member of the Organ Transplantation Professional Committee of Jiangsu Province; and deputy director level member of the Organ Transplantation Professional Committee of the Nanjing Military Region.
Wang graduated from the Medical Department of the Second Military Medical University in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in medicine; from the Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital of the Second Military Medical University in 1996 with a master's degree in medicine; and from the Nanjing University Medical School in 2001 with a doctorate. In 2002, he went to the University of Iowa's Organ Transplant Center in the United States for postdoctoral research and clinical work in liver transplantation[1]. In July 2003, he established the Liver Transplant Center at the PLA’s No. 81 Hospital, and by the end of 2010, he had performed over 250 allogeneic liver transplants, 1 liver-kidney combined transplant, 15 emergency liver transplants, and 5 relative-donor liver transplants[2].
The Liver Transplant Center has rapidly developed, with the capability to conduct 2 liver transplants simultaneously. As of 2013, the center had completed over 200 clinical liver transplants of various types, 1 liver-kidney combined transplant, and 5 relative-donor liver transplants (including 2 adult-to-adult right lobe liver transplants), making it a major liver transplant base in East China[3]. By the end of 2010, the hospital had completed at least 15 emergency liver transplants[4]. The Liver Disease Center has 125 beds. In 2015, the number of transplants conducted in nearly 2 years accounted for over 50% of the total in Jiangsu Province[5].
